Why make counterparties Personal or Shared?

What is the difference between a Personal Counterparty and a Shared Counterparty?

How can you determine if a counterparty becomes Personal or Shared?

Example:

A subscription has 4 users and 3 bankcontracts (bank A, B and C).

  • User 1 is the only one with the authority to share counterparties (has Multisign) and he has the 3 bankcontracts linked to his PKI contract.
  • User 2 has bankcontracts A and B linked to his PKI contract.
  • User 3 has bankcontracts B and C linked to his PKI contract.
  • User 4 can only sign (has the Signing Module).

  • User1 makes a counterparty shared for bankcontract A and B:

  • Only User 1 will be able to edit the counterparty
  • User 2 can view and will also be able to use this counterparty for every transaction they insert, but cannot modify it.
  • User 3 can view and will also be able to use this counterparty for every transaction they insert, but cannot modify it.
  • User 4 can not view or edit counterparties.
